Well, it’s official! Heidi Fisk of the eLearning Guild has asked me back for the 2011 Learning Solutions conference in Orlando, Florida. This time, I’ll be offering Breakfast Bytes coaching and discussion sessions on basic Presentation Skills each day, as well as a pre-conference full day hands-on workshop focusing on creating quality voiceovers for eLearning. Stay tuned to future blog posts for more details about both!

I went to download Audacity to my laptop and found out that their current beta version only works with Windows 7. Have you used the new beta version for Windows 7 yet? Do I need to be concerned about using the beta version for our workshop?
Thanks, Jo Ann
Hi, Jo Ann! Thanks for your note. If you look again at Audacity’s site, all they’re saying about their new Beta is that they are offering only provisional support for Windows 7 users at this time. I am on a Vista 64 bit system, which is about as cranky as they come, and I have both Audacity 1.2.6 and the 1.3 Beta installed and working just fine on my system. I have only looked at the Beta version a little bit; there are definitely some improvements, but I think they took a step back in handling some of the Preferences. I’ll be using the Audacity 1.2.6 version in our session as I figure it’s what most people will be using, but you should be fine running either of them. Check out the features of each, or download both and take a look–one nice thing about the software being free! 🙂 If you have any other questions, just let me know. I’ll look forward to meeting you next Tuesday.
